Main Idea

The central theme of 'Word to Live By' was the authority and trustworthiness of the Bible in our lives as followers of Jesus. Pastor highlighted that our belief in the Bible is not because of its own claims, but because Jesus, whom we trust and follow, affirmed and lived by it. We were reminded that to love Jesus is to love and obey Scripture, as it is through the Bible that Jesus mediates His authority to us. The sermon concluded with practical steps for becoming spiritually healthy apprentices of Jesus through engagement with Scripture.

Scripture References

Psalm 119:103, Psalm 103:111-112, Psalm 103:127-136, Luke 4:16-19, Matthew 28:16-20, John 14:21

How does the Bible's ancient origin impact its relevance and trustworthiness to you?

We don't just believe in the Bible because it claims to be true; we believe because Jesus, whom we love and follow, treated it as true.

In what ways can we cultivate a deeper love for Scripture in our daily lives?

Discussion Questions:

How does Jesus' relationship with Scripture influence our own view of the Bible?

What practical steps can we take to ensure we are consistently engaging with Scripture?
