RUTH part 1

Pastor Bryan Lowe
|
February 4, 2024

Main Idea

The main idea of the message was that sometimes when things get tough, we may be tempted to turn away from God and make decisions that go against His will. However, through the story of Ruth and Naomi, we are reminded to trust in God and follow His path, even when it may seem difficult.

Scripture References

Ruth 1:1-5, Judges 21:25, Psalm 60:8, 2 Corinthians 6:14, Ruth 1:16

In what ways do you see God's presence, power, and providence in the story of Ruth and Naomi?

To get to the right place, we have to leave the wrong one.

What can we learn from Elimelech's decision to move to Moab and the consequences that followed?

Discussion Questions:

Why do you think God is so restrictive in His boundaries for us? How does this show His love for us?

How does Ruth's declaration of loyalty to Naomi and commitment to God of Israel serve as an example for us?

What can we do to ensure that we are following God's path for our lives and not straying away to 'Moab'?

One decision, one act of repentance, can change the course of our lives and legacies.

Summary

In Pastor Bryan Lowe's first sermon on the book of Ruth at HOME CHURCH, he reminded us that although the story may seem focused on two women, Lot and Naomi, the presence, power, and providence of God is evident on every page. The sermon covered the first five verses of Ruth 1, where we are introduced to the characters and their journey from Bethlehem to Moab.

Call to Action

Some next steps to take this week:

Let us reflect on our lives and ask ourselves if there is any area where we are still living in 'Moab', away from God's will. What one decision or action could we take to return to 'Bethlehem' and align ourselves with God's plan for our lives?

As we continue to study the book of Ruth, let us remember that one decision, one act of repentance, can change the trajectory of our lives and legacies. Let us trust in God's love and follow His boundaries for our protection.
