Rooted and Built Up

Main Idea

God wants us, as His Church, to grow together and be firmly rooted and built up in our faith. This requires intentionality and sacrifice, but it leads to a flourishing and fragrant Christian walk.

Scripture References

Colossians 2:1-7, Genesis 2:18, Psalm 92:12-13, 1 Peter 2:1-5, 1 Kings 5:5-6

Is it possible to be deeply rooted and growing in faith without being connected and in community with other Christians?

Life is better with others, and as Christians, we should not do life alone. God has blessings for us when we grow together in Him.

Why do we tend towards isolation in our spiritual walk, even though we know it's better to do life together?

Discussion Questions:

Can you identify any influences in the world that tend to isolate us from other Christians?

What is the biggest obstacle for you in getting into community? What step can you take this week to overcome it?

How does a firm belief in an upcoming revival change the way we practice our faith?

We are called to be living stones, rooted and built up in our faith. As we are built up, the body of Christ is built up and the kingdom of God expands.

Summary

Pastor Bryan continues the Greater sermon series at Reverb Church, focusing on Colossians 2:1-7. He emphasizes the importance of being rooted and built up in our faith as we await an upcoming revival. He also encourages us to grow together with other believers and sacrifice our time for God.

Call to Action

Some next steps to take this week:

Let's be intentional about growing together in our faith by joining a growth track, attending men's or women's groups, participating in prayer groups, and serving on teams.

Let's also sacrifice our time for God and dedicate it to serving and growing in Him. This can be done by tithing our time, spending at least 16.8 hours a week in God's Word and using the remaining time to sow into others.
