It's Time, Send Me

Pastor Anthony

Main Idea

The main idea of the sermon was that because of Jesus, we are not only saved but also sent. God calls each of us to live beyond self-interest and to engage in serving others as a demonstration of our transformed lives. Pastor Anthony emphasized that Isaiah’s immediate and willing response—'Here I am. Send me.'—should mirror our own response to God’s call. Our relationship with God should compel us to serve out of gratitude, not obligation. This service might cost us something, but it’s in this self-denial that we truly follow Christ. We were encouraged to reflect on whether we are holding back from serving due to self-centeredness, a consumer mindset, or fear, and to let the grace of God propel us forward. Serving isn’t about our adequacy but about God’s sufficiency. The message was a call to action for us to live sent lives, fueled by the love and sacrifice of Jesus.

True service will cost you something—your time, energy, or reputation—but it's part of following Jesus.

How does Isaiah’s response to God’s call challenge your own willingness to serve?

Discussion Questions:

What are some practical ways you can move from being a consumer to a contributor in your church?

Have you ever felt unworthy to serve because of your past? How does God's grace change that?

What does it look like in your life to say 'Here I am. Send me' today?

The church isn’t a buffet for our preferences; it’s a mission base for God's kingdom.

Summary

In this message, Pastor Anthony challenged us to consider the call to serve as a natural response to what Jesus has done for us. He reminded us that true love, like the love of God, drives us to do things we wouldn’t normally do—including stepping out in service. The sermon centered around Isaiah’s vision in Isaiah 6, where Isaiah experiences God’s holiness, acknowledges his own sinfulness, and is then commissioned by God. Pastor Anthony identified three key traps that often stop us from serving: the trap of self, where our desires conflict with God’s; the trap of consumerism, where we treat church as a service provider rather than a mission base; and the trap of fear, where past mistakes and feelings of inadequacy hold us back. Through scripture and stories, we were reminded that God's grace covers our past, His power is made perfect in our weakness, and He calls us to be contributors, not just consumers in His kingdom.

Call to Action

Some next steps to take this week:

Ask God today where He wants to send you, and be ready to say 'yes' before you know the details.

Break free from the trap of consumerism by committing to serve regularly in your church or community.
