Reset With Rest Wk2

Pastor David Rials

January 14, 2024

Main Idea

The main idea of the sermon was that rest is not an enemy of productivity, but a requirement for it. We are finite beings with limitations, and we need to follow the example of Jesus who enjoyed life and took time to rest.

Scripture References

Isaiah 58:3,8-9,11,13-14; 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12; Luke 10:38-42; Luke 12:22-32; Psalm 46:10; Matthew 11:28-30

What are some ways we can actively listen to God and make room for Him in our busy lives?

Rest is a requirement for productivity, not an enemy of it. We can't do everything all the time, and we need to learn to slow down and enjoy life like Jesus did.

Why do you think we often prioritize busyness over rest? How can we change this mindset?

Discussion Questions:

What are some practical ways we can incorporate rest into our daily lives?

How can we use our time of rest to connect with God and grow in our relationship with Him?

How can we encourage each other to prioritize rest and actively listen to God in our group and in our daily lives?

We need to actively listen to God and not just hope for Him to fit into our busy schedules.

Summary

He also mentioned additional resources available on the church center app. Pastor David also acknowledged the hard work put into the new Mardi Gras float, and encouraged everyone to sign up and serve the community. He shared Isaiah 58.3 and reminded us that God cares more about our motives than our actions.

Call to Action

Some next steps to take this week:

Let's stop striving to please ourselves and instead focus on serving and making a difference in the world around us.

We should practice the discipline of rest by having selah moments, pausing and listening to God. It's important to actively listen and not just hope for God to fit into our busy schedules.
