Main Idea

We can look to the story of Abraham and Sarah as an example of obedience to God in the face of adversity and to see how God's promises are not always automatic. They can be delayed or stopped if we do not continue in our obedience to Him. Ultimately, God provided a substitutionary sacrifice for Abraham and His promise was fulfilled.

Scripture References

Summary

Pastor David Rials of Life United spoke about the importance of looking to those who have gone before us in scripture to gain strength and hope. He discussed the story of Abraham and Sarah and how their story is still influential today. Abraham was the originator of the three major religions in the world today. Abraham had to wait 25 years for the promise of a son and his obedience to God was put to the test when God asked him to sacrifice the promised son. In the end, God provided a ram as a sacrifice in place of Isaac, foreshadowing Jesus as a substitutionary sacrifice for us.

Call to Action
