The main idea of Pastor David's message is that godly sorrow leads to true, heartfelt repentance which brings about a personal encounter with Jesus and restores our relationship with God.
Matthew 5:4, Isaiah 6:5, Romans 8:1-2, Luke 18:18-19, Joel 2:12-14a, 2 Corinthians 7:10, Psalm 51:1-4a, Ephesians 4:30, Acts 3:19-20a
What area of our lives have we become compromised in and need to yield to the Holy Spirit?
What is the importance of repentance in restoring our relationship with God?
How can we turn to the Lord to receive mercy and compassion?
Pastor David Rials of Life United encouraged us to seek a personal encounter with Jesus through true, heartfelt repentance. He reminded us that we are both sinners in need of a Savior and the righteousness of God in Christ. He highlighted the importance of godly sorrow and how it differs from worldly sorrow. We must stay in the tension between the two extremes, and turn to the Lord to receive mercy and compassion. Repentance leads to restoration of relationship with God and the pouring out of His Spirit on all people.
We are encouraged to start our new year by participating in the church's annual 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting.
We are also encouraged to turn to the Lord to receive mercy and compassion.
